About Us
Gander Elementary is a Grades 4-6 school with a projected enrollment of 400 students. Located in beautiful Gander, NL, our vibrant school community revolves around our amazing Elementary learners and serves the communities of Gander and Benton. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment which enhances student achievement and encourages an active and healthy lifestyle in a safe and collaborative school community. Gander Elementary continues along the journey as a Responsive Teaching and Learning school.
Gander Elementary has a total of 30 teaching staff members. This includes classroom teachers, instructional resource teachers who support students with learning exceptionalities in the classroom, specialist teachers in the areas of guidance and counselling, music, physical education, technology/learning resources, reading specialist and administration (principal and assistant principal). The school also has teaching and learning assistants who support the teaching and learning that happens in each classroom, and student assistants, providing additional support to our students. In addition to staff based at the school, students can access NLESD itinerant teachers in the areas of speech-language pathology, hearing impairment, visual impairment, behavioural support, English as a Second Language (ESL) and educational psychology. Secretarial, maintenance, and custodial support services are also an important part of our school environment. Students are provided with an opportunity to study in English or French Immersion.
